The specific objectives of the work package "Creation of the VR/AR-based Robotic Simulation applications" are to:
● 3D model the operating room environment.
● 3D model the surgical tools.
● Unify the 3D surgical and anatomical models with VR/AR modalities.
● Evaluate and test task-based/procedure-based VR/AR models with experts.
These specific objectives contribute to the general objectives of the project in the following ways:
OB1: By providing trainees with the ability to practice in a virtual operating room, VR/AR simulations can help to improve their surgical skills and knowledge.
OB2: VR/AR simulations can be used to train trainees on specific surgical procedures, such as prostate removal or hysterectomy.
OB3: VR/AR simulations can be used to train trainees on how to use specific robotic surgery tools.
OB4: VR/AR simulations can be used to evaluate and validate training materials, such as surgical checklists and protocols.
OB5: VR/AR simulations can be used to develop and deliver educational applications for robotic surgery.
OB6: VR/AR simulations can be used to study the physical substance organization of printed 3D models for robotic surgery simulators.
OB7: VR/AR simulations can be disseminated to clinical and medical education centers to help trainees learn and practice robotic surgery skills.
The tasks and responsibilities of each partner organisation in the work package.
The activities of this work package are:
1.3D modeling of the OR environment,
2.3D modeling of the surgical tools,
3.Unification of the 3D Surgical&Anatomical models with VR/AR modalities and
4. Evaluation and testing task-based/procedure-based VR/AR models with the experts.
